Inspiration
I created Med Ai after realizing that during emergencies, panic can make people forget even the most basic steps that could save a life. This problem becomes even more serious in rural areas of India, where limited access to healthcare and harmful superstitions can sometimes delay proper treatment. One incident that deeply influenced this project was the reported case of a child from Amroha who died after a snakebite, where his family reportedly relied on the belief that dipping him in the Ganga would cure him instead of seeking immediate medical treatment. This made me think: What if people had an intelligent, accessible guide available at the moment they needed it most? That thought became the inspiration for Med Ai, an AI-powered healthcare assistant designed to provide clear, immediate guidance during critical situations and help people make safer, informed decisions.
What it does
Med AI is an AI-powered emergency healthcare assistant designed to provide fast, accessible, and reliable support when people need it most. *Instant Emergency Calling: Provides important emergency helpline numbers and allows users to call them instantly. *Nearest Hospital Navigation: Uses an interactive map to quickly locate and guide users to the nearest hospital. *Bilingual Support: Available in English and Hindi, making emergency assistance more accessible to people who are not comfortable with English. *Private Health Reports: Provides a secure, end-to-end encrypted space where users can store their medical reports and receive AI-assisted analysis while keeping their health data under their control. *Emergency Guidance: Guides users step-by-step through emergency situations, helping them stay calm and take appropriate action until professional medical help is available. *Reminders: It can set up reminder and actually remind you about when it's time to take the medicine. The goal is simple: provide the right information, at the right time, when every second matters.
How we built it
We built Med Ai using Lovable, Firebase, AI APIs, and map/location services. Lovable helped us develop the main application and interface quickly, while Firebase handles things like authentication, database, and secure data management. We integrated AI to analyze medical reports and provide emergency guidance, and used location and map services to help users find the nearest hospital and reach it quickly. We also added English and Hindi support so the platform can be useful to people who may not be comfortable with English.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenges we faced were limited AI credit usage, team coordination, different development setups across our laptops, and getting the right results from AI tools through prompting. At times, different environments caused compatibility issues, while poor or unclear prompts resulted in outputs that needed multiple iterations. Managing these challenges taught us how important clear communication, consistent development setups, and precise prompting are when building a project as a team.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
One of our biggest accomplishments is that we built something with the potential to make a real difference in an emergency. We are proud that Med Ai is not just a project for a competition, but something that could genuinely help someone when they need guidance the most. If we can promote it properly and Med Ai ends up helping or even saving just one life, we would consider that a success.
What we learned
We learned how to use AI prompting more effectively, but more importantly, we learned how to identify a real-world problem and think about how AI can actually help solve it. We also learned a lot about teamwork, coordination, problem-solving, and adapting when things don't work as expected. This project showed us that building something meaningful is not just about the technology, but about understanding the people and problems we are building it for.
What's next for Med AI
Our team was thinking of adding real life doctors with proper certifications to the app, so that people just don't have to be depend on AI. If I add this feature my goal will be to make it for free. But In case doctors refuse to join this app for free. I might be adding a premium feature for this.
