Inspiration
Picture this: a world where healthcare data isn't just scattered information but a symphony of insights, harmonizing for better patient care. Our story starts with a profound challenge – healthcare data management is not just about disposal but bridging the gap between information and impact. In education, this gap leaves treatment plans and diagnoses shrouded in uncertainty.
In 2021, the Nigerian Ministry of Health echoed this concern, revealing a tapestry of data quality issues – missing entries and inconsistencies weaving a complex narrative (MoH, 2021). It's more than data; it's the heartbeat of better healthcare.
But here's the spark: our app rises from the ashes of this challenge, a phoenix of innovation with a mission. We're here to untangle the web, ensuring healthcare data is not just accessible but accurate and enduring. We're not just problem-solvers but architects of a future where every data point propels us toward a healthier, more informed Nigeria. Join us in turning the page – where healthcare data is not a struggle but a triumph.
What it does
The application follows a user-centric design paradigm, wherein patients possess control over their data, with the explicit authority to grant or revoke access to individuals other than themselves. Notably, the app is engineered to enable users to effortlessly copy their Decentralized Identifier (DID) for convenient and secure utilization whenever required.
Moreover, the application serves as a comprehensive repository for patient information, allowing users to access and review their details, thereby fostering a more informed and empowered healthcare experience.
How we built it
Frontend Design: We embarked on the initial phase by meticulously crafting the front-end design of the application to ensure an intuitive and user-friendly interface.
User Creation (Doctors and Patients) DID: Following the design phase, we proceeded to create unique Decentralized Identifiers (DID) for both doctors and patients, establishing a secure and personalized foundation for each user.
Application Protocol Creation: With the DID framework in place, we diligently developed the application protocol, laying the groundwork for seamless and standardized interactions within the system.
Patients Record Creation in DWN: Leveraging the established protocols, we systematically created and integrated patients' records into the Decentralized Web Network (DWN), ensuring a robust and decentralized data management system.
Git for Version Control: To maintain transparency and accountability, we employed Git for version control, allowing us to track and manage changes systematically throughout the development process.
Deployment on Vercel: The culmination of our efforts involved deploying the application on Vercel, ensuring a reliable and scalable platform for the groundbreaking healthcare innovation we've envisioned.
Challenges we ran into
Poor network services and Few bugs in terms of protocol
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Ability to bring a project to life within short notice of knowing about this Hackathon, Bugs were fixed and working together seamlessly
What we learned
We learned about the Usage of Web5 and how to can make Healthcare data management system is better and more efficient.
What's next for Med 5
In the future, we will be adding amazing features like payment platforms both in Fiat and cryptocurrencies including QRcode, E-commerce to purchase drugs and the next appointment date.
