In my work I strive for realism. I always try to create something as life-like as possible and try to gauge how it would function if it was real. I focus on accuracy to concept and trying to capture exactly what I'm looking at. I also want people who view my work to have their own understanding of what they are looking at and what it's meant for. For this project I had a story in mind first before even looking at concepts. I wanted to do something frog related, based off of my own frog, and I wanted it to be a character. I had this neat idea to do a big towering mech who is rebuilt by a little girl and then repainted in a very Astro-boy story way. I began with an inspiration and concept folder of 2D illustrations of mechs and amphibious creatures. I started with the front legs to get a sturdy base and then the main body, the hind legs were the trickiest and I had trouble making them fit realistically. For texturing I used substance painter with 4 UV tiles and then brought it all into Unreal to get some close up renders. I made a few renders in marmoset too but they don't pop out the emissions like unreal does. I am working on rigging this character for a small animation in the future.
