Inspiration
Many Howards Students struggle to find relevant and up-to-date information out there when it comes to their interest and the community.
What it does
The project is an online-based portal that centralizes all the current clubs and organizations into one place and displays their most up-to-date information and redirects them to their handles to access the club and organization's outlet. Rather than being a whole new entity that allows for clubs to post on our website, our website allows the customer to view the most information with a click of a button. With the continuation of this project, there will be more implementations of different features and synergy to make the project bigger and better.
How we built it
The project was built using Python, HTML, and CSS languages. In addition, we used Flask and Bootstrap framework. The UI design was made using Figma which contributed to the animation, GUI functionality, and more.
Challenges we ran into
- learning and implementing new technologies on the spot
- Data transformation challenge from a Javascript/HTML to a pythonic result
- GUI challenge is written in python to a Javascript/HTML result, even with the use of the Flask framework
- Time-constraint
- Solidifying an idea was the problem prior to coding/UI design
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Creating animations using Figma and seeing the end result
- The UI design of the homepage/home screen
- Storing Data after python script has been running
- Using Flask microframework to initiate a website and display drop menu feature
What we learned
- Syntax, Functuatlity, and reading the documentation for HTML, Javascript, and CSS
- How to use Figma
- Teamworking skills
- drafting and planning skills
- The value of prototyping
