Inspiration
Tinder for the swipe right/left functionality, Macrofactor and Strong for gym tracking/macro tracking
What it does
A macro tracking gym app along with a fun swipe sim with UMass Dining all combined into one! We scraped the info off UMass dining to get the food served that day so we can build a menu for the day that hits your macros (we can even calculate it for you). You can track your workouts and even talk to a chatbot about your menu and workouts.
How we built it
We used react for the front end and used beautifulsoup for web scraping in the backend along with GeminiAI api for the chatbot.
Challenges we ran into
Getting a lot of the features like swipes and the bot to gather all the data was really tough to figure out. Also figuring out what we would use and what system we would use for rating the food (elo system vs swipes).
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud for the fact that it is functional and it has so many features that interconnect with each other.
What we learned
Hackathons are not for the weak, this stuff is hard to figure out in a day. Also cool to learn about how to web scrape and use GeminiAPI for making our own chatbot.
What's next for MealSwipeRight
Better functionality of the algorithm system, iron out some of the remaining visual/functional bugs. Leaderboard system for multiple users.
