MealScan app contains the following feature components.

  1. The headliner feature, food image classification, uses a proprietary machine learning model to classify images of food into categories. The model is trained on 10,000+ food images (vegetables, fruits, and buffet and restaurant dishes). It knows the difference between penne and spaghetti, lemons and limes, pork and beef.
  2. Voice-activated diabetes solution that listens to questions and responds by voice and notes, such as Siri on the iphone.
  3. Barcode scanner for reading food product codes.
  4. Optic Character Recognition (OCR) for converting photos of text into computable text. It can read package labeling, lists of ingredients, and even nutritional labels.
  5. Database of medical conditions and their dietary requirements.
  6. Database of food allergies.
  7. Database of foods and their ingredients.
  8. Database of foods and their nutritional content.
  9. Database of recipes.
  10. Database of foods and their religious prohibitions.
  11. Database of dates and times related to religious or cultural food prohibitions or celebrations.
  12. Database of food products containing names, ingredients, nutritional labeling.
  13. Create a machine learning, Restful (API) web service that links the various databases, Barcode scanner, OCR and voice-activated diabetes solution technologies for the diabetic patient community
