MealRight

This project can give cooking suggestions based on the ingredients provided by the user. Eventually, I would like to build this as a UGC platform. So everyone can be a contributor.

Inspiration

I used to wonder what to cook when I open the door of my refrigerator at mealtime. Sometimes I have very limited ingredients and it takes a while to find good recipes. So I want to build a platform that can filter the recipes and give a suggestion shortly.

What it does

Users can input the ingredients they have, and search for the right recipes made for these ingredients.

How we built it

I built it by REACT and JSX, check the UI design

Challenges we ran into

I am a beginner at frontend development and have limited experience with ReactJS and MUI.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I made it happen on time!

What we learned

I am able to evaluate the workloads of each feature and chose the most important ones to implement first.

What's next for MealRight

  1. Allow users to contribute their own recipes.
  2. Improve UI and UX.
  3. Provide more features of using the recipe, such as adjusting the weights of each ingredient proportionally.
  4. Implement backend service and storage using firebase.
