  Pick your favorite restaurant!

Inspiration

We've come to a realization that we spent more and more money on the same handful of favorite restaurants. As a frequent customer, we thought it would be a good idea reward loyal customers who help keep the business thriving.

What it does

It enables customers to get rewarded points for every restaurant they visit. It gives customers a better incentive to come back to their favorite restaurants. Users will be rewarded 10% of all their ordered through the app.

How we built it

We used Supabase, React, Vite, and Typescript.

Challenges we ran into

We had a lot of trouble trying to implement this as a mobile app. We tried to use Supabase with React Expo Router for a few hours but just went in circles with no luck. We kept our Supabase backend and pivoted to a web app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

After spending 50% of our time encountering bug after bug with the mobile app, we still got a MVP working.

What we learned

We learned a lot about how Supabase works, for example how it automatically handles user authentication and how that can be connected to a profiles table.

What's next for MealMiles

Since we weren't able to incorporate a cross platform technology like react expo, we will explore building the mobile side with native languages like Swift and Kotlin. We also hope to implement a payment system like stripe and collaborate with local restaurants to fully realize our vision!
