🥗 MealBridge – About the Project

🌍 Inspiration

Every day, tons of edible food go to waste, while millions struggle with hunger. MealBridge was inspired by the idea of connecting surplus food with those who need it—creating a simple and efficient way for donors and recipients to share food and make a social impact.

🍽️ What It Does

MealBridge is a food donation platform prototype that:

  • Allows donors (restaurants, households, businesses) to list surplus food.
  • Helps recipients (charities, shelters, individuals) browse and claim available food.
  • Connects both parties through a seamless and user-friendly interface.

🎨 How We Built It

  • Designed in Figma with a focus on usability and accessibility.
  • Color palette: Warm and inviting to evoke a sense of community.
  • User Flow: Simplified navigation for both donors and recipients.

⚡ Challenges We Ran Into

  1. Creating an intuitive flow for users unfamiliar with food donation platforms.
  2. Designing for multiple user types while keeping the experience seamless.
  3. Ensuring engagement through clear CTAs and an easy-to-use interface.

🎉 Accomplishments That We're Proud Of

  • Crafting a visually appealing and functional design.
  • Building an intuitive user journey from donation to pickup.
  • Encouraging a sustainable approach to food distribution.

📚 What We Learned

  • The importance of inclusive design for different types of users.
  • How to balance aesthetic appeal with practicality in UI/UX.
  • The role of community-driven solutions in tackling food waste.

🚀 What's Next for MealBridge?

  • User testing & feedback collection to refine the design.
  • Exploring development options to bring MealBridge to life.
  • Adding interactive features like real-time tracking and impact analytics.

MealBridge is just the beginning—together, we can fight food waste and hunger!
