Inspiration
We wanted to figure out how often we could affordably obtain Einstein Bagels without going over budget on our meal plan for the semester
What it does
The website takes current remaining balance and provides users with some helpful stats and tips to let them know if they are on track with their spending this semester. It also has a custom built API that allows users to sort for available meals around campus (Marketplace and C4 included for now). that abide by certain meal types, dietary restrictions, and price options .
How we built it
We used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend to create a website that users can easily navigate. We used python and json for the backend code that includes a custom API with menu data, and math functions that provide users with helpful data in regards for their budgeting for the semester
Challenges we ran into
Google Authenticate, CSS formatting, math issues, API tagging and formatting the dictionary, updating remaining balance (did not accomplish most of these)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We made something
What we learned
js, json, html, python, css, pretty much everything was new
What's next for Meal Plan Helper
cleaning up other planned functionality(updating budget when item purchased, making the user profile (google authenticate), storing user data so it doesn't have to be manually input every time etc etc
