Inspiration: Our hackathon project, Meal Matters, was inspired by the pressing issues of food waste and food insecurity. We wanted to create a solution that leverages technology to connect surplus food with those in need, making a meaningful impact on both fronts.

What it does: Meal Matters is a web-based application that allows individuals to easily donate their excess food from events or everyday life to NGOs. Users can choose the type of NGO they want to support, and our platform facilitates the seamless donation process. This ensures that surplus meals find their way to those who need them the most, reducing food waste and addressing hunger.

How we built it: To bring Meal Matters to life, we employed a combination of web development technologies. We utilized HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the front end, ensuring an intuitive and visually appealing user interface. For the backend, we utilized React frameworks and, MongoDB databases to handle user authentication, donation matching, and secure data management.

Challenges we ran into: Throughout the development process, we faced various challenges. Some of these included designing an efficient matching system to connect donors and NGOs effectively, ensuring a seamless user experience, and implementing robust security measures to protect user data and privacy.

Accomplishments that we're proud of: We are immensely proud of creating a functional prototype for Meal Matters within the hackathon timeframe. Our accomplishment lies in developing a solution that has the potential to make a tangible impact on reducing food waste and combating hunger. By empowering individuals to donate their surplus food easily, we are fostering a sense of community and social responsibility.

What we learned: Developing Meal Matters taught us valuable teamwork, problem-solving, and rapid prototyping lessons. We gained a deeper understanding of the challenges associated with connecting multiple stakeholders and the importance of creating an intuitive user experience. Additionally, we learned about the critical role technology can play in addressing social issues. We also learned about tools like GitHub and Bootstrap along the way

What's Next for Meal Matters: We need to add the functionality of the user dashboard so that they can check the progress of their request and respond to it. We also need to add a dashboard for us where we can manage our tickets as our current method is not so efficient and safe. also, we need to work on connecting the user and nog according to their location . This project needs a lot of improvement as to is just a prototype as this was our first hackathon project and we are still in the learning phase
