Inspiration: Personally, I have struggled a lot with deciding on something healthy to eat. Opening the fridge can be overwhelming when you're not sure what to make, and it can be tempting to reach for unhealthy foods such as chips or candy. This website aims to help stop this uncertainty by suggesting ideas about what to cook based on user preferences.

What it does: The user selects from a variety of options (such as which type of meal, if they prefer sweet or savory food, and how much time they have to make the food). At the end, the website suggests a recipe they can make based on their preferences. NOTE: I was unable to get the narrated video I made to upload fast enough due to the slowness of my home wifi, so I had no choice other than to find a random youtube video to submit.

How we built it: I used the React.js framework, writing code in Javascript, HTML, and CSS.

Challenges we ran into: The most challenging part of this website was to establish the button workflow (displaying a different set of buttons each time the user makes a choice). This required meticulous documentation and planning, but was ultimately rewarding.

Accomplishments that we're proud of: The button workflow and the selection of recipes!

What we learned: I learned that it is important to think realistically when planning. I originally planned to have around 70 recipes as part of the website, but I realized soon that this was unrealistic for one day's work and I scaled the project back a bit.

What's next for Meal Choice Site: Update the styling to look more professional, change the sizing of the images, and definitely add more dietary options for the user to chose from.

Was unable to upload a video in time due to the slowness of my wifi. The video on the front page is just a random youtube video I found. If I can find a way to upload the video I recorded on my phone (computer screen recording was not working for me), then I will update this project.
