Inspiration
One of us was wanted to get an organized way of meal prepping and meeting calorie goals throughout the day, so we decided to make a meal tracker.
What it does
It adds and removes meals throughout the day to meet the day, and it also shows the meals throughout the day along with the calorie goal calculated in the beginning through the Harris Benedict equation.
How we built it
We first brainstormed everything using a sketchbook, then we tried to manage everything correctly by diving up the tasks between us time-wise and work-wise. We used this and JavaFX for the GUI to make the app.
Challenges we ran into
Most of the time, we feel that we were productive, but later towards the end, we ran into time constraints and we did not get enough of the project complete to make it functional, but there were various separate parts that were working correctly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to add some complexity within the inputs, by auto-formatting and reading unusual inputs. Furthermore, we were able to incorporate a lot of unique parts that we did not work with before.
What we learned
We learned how to use many different aspects of JavaFX, such as viewlist, pie charts, and date formatting tricks. Furthermore, we incorporated unusual topics such as imageView among other things.
What's next for Meal and Calorie Tracker, Fitness Pal
We will try finishing the app first, making sure everything is complete and working without bugs. Furthermore, we want to add Google Maps implementation by using location to figure out distances between locations and calculating the calories burned when moving those distances.
