Inspiration

We were inspired by the rise in investment platforms that target "beginner" and casual investors. While these platforms have allowed the average person to become an investor, it is easy to lose money in this complicated market. With this platform, we hope to provide investors with educational material to help investors earn skills, experience, and money. Making investing more equitable and helping give everyone the best shot with investment is the primary goal of MEA invest.

What it does

MEA Invest is a financial platform that educates investors, especially young or new investors. We do this in multiple ways, from providing valuable information on investment, to showing potential risks and growth in the market.

How we built it

MEA was built using Wix with Velo, with python powering our stock market algorithms.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into many challenges, such as learning a completely new platform for web development as well as programming within it. Additionally, making our algorithms mesh well with the website was challenging.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of learning so much about how the stock market works and applying that knowledge to code. Additionally, we are proud of being able to provide easy access to our algorithm's results to the general public.

What we learned

Through this project, the whole team learned a lot. Front end development was completely new for our team, but the ability to easily code within the website builder was a foundational element that allowed faster development of the custom features within the site. It did not feel limiting since any idea that the front end developer had, they were able to find a way to program it in. Learning so much information about how investment works and some sophisticated ways of financial analysis was fascinating and crucial for our ability to analyze the financial market.

What's next for MEA Invest

With a topic as deep and intricate as investment, we were not able to complete all of our goals for our platform since the rabbit hole goes very deep. We plan to expand our educational resources, ranging our information from beginner, intermediate, and professional depth of articles. Additionally, we plan to add a lot more functionality to the stock viewing. This includes stock breakdowns into what goes into calculating risk and growth, as well as live data showing the stock's performance. Furthermore, showing user's our take on the general market could offer valuable insight into potential market-wide fluctuations. We would also love to compare our algorithm with historical data and how well it is able to predict stock performance.
