Inspiration

Our inspiration for the AtmosAir In-Flight Infotainment System emerged from a mutual experience of dissatisfaction with the current in-flight entertainment offerings. We noticed that air travelers often longed for a more engaging and personalized experience during their journeys. This frustration with generic and outdated systems motivated us to develop a solution that could redefine the in-flight entertainment experience. 🚀

What it does

AtmosAir is a revolutionary in-flight entertainment system designed to address the current shortcomings of air travel entertainment. It empowers passengers to personalize their journey by completing a brief survey about themselves. Using AI algorithms, AtmosAir suggests content that aligns with their preferences, similar to how popular platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Spotify curate content. It also offers a seamless content consumption experience, making it easier for passengers to enjoy music, movies, games, foods and shows that match their interests and languages. For TV and movies, AtmosAir has integrated features such as the option to include dual captions and Audio Descriptions in audio tracks, ensuring an inclusive and enjoyable entertainment experience for passengers of all needs and preferences. In these ways, AtmosAir not only enhances the passenger experience but also minimizes stress points, leading to elevated satisfaction levels for both passengers and airlines, ultimately redefining the in-flight entertainment landscape.

How we built it

  • Figma (Brainstorming, User Flow, Wireframing, Prototyping)
  • Determination 🙂

Challenges we ran into

  • Learning Curve: Adapting to the fast-paced and competitive designathon environment was a learning experience for all of us.
  • Technology: We had to quickly familiarize ourselves with new concepts of Figma (ex: wireframing and prototyping) and get familiar with Figma plugins to meet the project's requirements.
  • Time Constraints: Completing the project within a 24-hour time frame tested our ability to work effectively as a team.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Developed a targeted UI/UX experience by utilizing Figma to develop design prototypes.
  • Improved upon existing solutions through the use of iterative design and initial prototyping.
  • Went full circle in terms of removing redundant UI elements, thus streamlining the user UX.

What we learned

  • Developing a Figma prototype from start to finish
  • Understanding user pain-points through simulating a variety of user interactions.
  • Key design principles found in many of today's most used applications and how we could reflect them in our own custom built apps.

What's next for AtmosAir

While AtmosAir was initially conceived as a designathon project, we recognize its potential for future development and implementation:

  • Integration with Emerging Technologies: Exploring opportunities to integrate emerging technologies like virtual reality and augmented reality to further enhance the in-flight entertainment experience.
  • User research: We will continue to gather user feedback through surveys and make iterative improvements to enhance the system's personalization and usability.
