Inspiration

Climate change is a major issue and its effects are really devastating. Our Solution aims to help prevent deserts from expanding, reduce water shortage, reduce livestock losses, reduce death rates. We want to help reduce this effects so that we can have a better environment.

What it does

We developed a website called MazingiraBoraWebsite that allows users to learn after which they are awarded points based on the number of modules they complete. It also shows the current effects of climate change. It allows users post what they have been doing to help reduce effects of climate change and the expectations of their actions. It then allows people to vote on who has made the greatest impact and we are able to feature that person based on the number of votes and number of points they acquired based on what they learnt.

How we built it

We built our website using React for the fronted and ASP.NET for the backend. We also managed to integrate a chatbot using Power Virtual Agents that allows users to interact with the site and maybe ask questions related to climate change. We also managed to host our code to GitHub and azure devops and also publish it on the Azure Platform.

Challenges we ran into

We had a lot of challenges debugging our code and integrating the frontend with the backend. We also had a challenge determining the final solution at the start of the challenge since everyone had a brilliant idea but we were able to solve all those challenges as a team.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have our code hosted on the azure platform and having successfully worked on the frontend and the backend to build an MVP. We are also proud of having integrated a chatbot to our website using Power Virtual Agent.

What we learned

We learnt how to use React and ASP.NET frameworks to build a working website. We also managed to learn how to publish code to azure and push our code to azure devops and GitHub. We also had some disagreements based on our opinions but we managed to solve that as a team. Above all that we managed to learn how to work as a team based on our strengths and weaknesses.

What's next for MazingiraBoraWebsite

We are hoping that our project will have a chance to be incubated and we are also hoping to develop a complete and working website that will help reduce effects of climate change so that we can have a better and habitable environment.
