Inspiration

How import is emotion state to the mental health? Emotional states play a significant role in mental health. Our emotions affect our thoughts, behaviours, and overall well-being. I have personally experienced the mental health challenge while I was spent some time taking care my father who is suffering dementia. Access to mental health services is limited due to a shortage of professionals, stigma, and high costs. Traditional therapy methods are often time-intensive, expensive, and cannot always provide immediate support. There is a need for scalable, accessible solutions that can provide immediate, personalized support to individuals struggling with mental health issues.

What it does

Anyone can have moments of anxiety, depression and others depends on the emotional state. For example, bad days in the office, losing jobs, fighting with your partners and many more. Sometimes you just need to talk, get advice, and have a listening ear to vent 🗣️🗣️🗣️. Our AI trained assistant - Maya can do it. 24/7. Our interactive dashboard can give you an overview of your emotion state and your mood trending. AI generated triggers recognizes patterns that may elude the conscious mind but also predicts potential stressors and mood fluctuations before they escalate.

How we built it

We built it with no code tool Bubble.io which allows us rapidly prototype and launch a fully functional MVP and shipped it to our target user.

Challenges we ran into

Most of the challenges we ran into is the human's bias toward the use of AI tools. Particularly in mental health space. The trust of the AI-powered tool and user engagement(Weekly daily active user is our key metric).

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I have been tinkering the idea, building the product and talking to users since mid-October 2023. At present, the platform has garnered interest with 22 users having signed up to explore its features. Of these, I am encouraged to see that 2 users are actively engaging with Maya AI, utilizing its capabilities more than twice. In addition, I am the default user and I have been checking with Maya AI at least 3 times per week(benchmark metric).

What we learned

  1. Improving the chatbot's functionality to make it less repetitive and easier to end a session.
  2. Providing clarity on the user journey and how to get value from the product.
  3. Implementing automatic saving of mood entries to improve user experience.

What's next for Maya AI

  1. Improve UI/UX(chat bot)
  2. Partnership/work with psychotherapist for feedback and insights
  3. Experiment "walk-and-talk" activity in the platform to promote physical activity and mental well-being
