Inspiration

I got the inspiration for the app because it solves a real problem I have myself. I often waste a lot of time, thinking about what I could work on for all of my projects instead of just getting some actual work done.

What it does

Max is a task management assistant app that helps users prioritize their tasks better. Users enter their tasks as well as some score called the T-I-D-E score. Which stands for "Time, Impact, Desire, Ease". Once the user has all the tasks in the app. He/She can just press "Start Work" and enter the time they have available. Max then checks fitting task depending on the score and also creates subtasks in case there is no task that can be done in the defined time frame. By handing off the decision, the users can get to work quicker because by the power of constraints, they will just have those tasks pre-selected for them without worrying about other tasks.

How we built it

The app is built natively with SwiftUI. My team mate and I worked collaboratively on the design and I did the development.

Challenges we ran into

The timeframe was definitely a challenge. I only started working on August 28th and I'm still working full time and am a dad of 2 small kids so I only had the evenings to work on it. I still wanted to provide a top notch UI and UX with great interactions but still have a functional app as well so that was hard to balance. Another challenge was crafting a proper prompt that works well.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I think we came up with a really sleek app that can be extended in very nice ways in the future. I'm especially proud of the recurring background element which is the glow that acts as a visual cue to help guide the attention of the user. I'm also proud of delivering a well made app like this in such a short time frame. This was definitely my quickest turn around of an app.

What we learned

It was the first time for me to work on one of my indie apps in a team. I learned a lot about design, working with a proper designer and also that it's sometimes really nice to work collaboratively on a goal together. I loved every second of it.

What's next for Max - Manage, Act, Excel

We want to build the ultimate Task assistant that makes it even more convenient for the users to prioritize their tasks and don't waste time choosing them. There's going to be a shortcuts integration so users can use the action button to quickly enter a new task from anywhere, as well as calendar integrations and a Mac App are planned for the future.
