Inspiration

As the University of Texas at Arlington is primarily a commuter school, creating lasting relationships becomes challenging. This, paired with the lasting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, create a sense of disconnect between students. Our project is built to withstand this. For the introverted individuals to the party monsters, we choose to unite UTA's diverse student body.

What it does

It allows users to connect to other students and engage in conversation to potentially create a new Maverick Bestie. A Mavtie.

How we built it

We used Android Studio and Java to create the Android app, and used CSS, HTML, and JavaScript to implement the website which is hosted on Firebase.

Challenges we ran into

Implementing the backend server to process the data inputs from user forms.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The front-end website and application turned out well and was completed.

What we learned

We learned more about using various tools and technology such as Firebase products, Android Studio, and data structures.

What's next for Mavties

We hope to continue on this project in order to fully grasp the various tools and technologies at our disposal, and to continue increase our technological knowledge.
