Maui High School Student App

For the House STEM App Challenge, I developed an app that would increase awareness about school events and increase communication amongst students, teachers, staff, and administration through a social media “database” with features including a calendar, a customizable profile, school news, student resources, and class discussion pages. While many of these features have been implemented in some form or another (morning bulletin, Twitter, etc.), this is the first effort to bring them together by combining them into a single app. This would solve several problems at Maui High School including the lack of a stable communication medium between the school administration and students as well as a persisting student reluctance to keep up-to-date with the latest school events. It would also bolster school spirit, help Maui High School gain publicity, and encourage users to frequently mention Maui High School on social media platforms.
