Inspiration

Initially, my mom said that her felt really sluggish since she was not using it like she used back when she was working as an accountant. Considering how my maternal grandmother was having slight memory issues, I thought it might be best if we do something RIGHT NOW. So I built this fun little game for her, she liked it. I also showed it to my classmates and friends and got positive reviews.

What it does

It makes your brain SHARPER. It makes it FASTER. When is the last time you tried counting groceries and realized that you need to use the calculator? This game SOLVES that issue.

How we built it

I built it mainly by doing the actual game first, and then adding the rest as the feedback grew. At one point, I decided to re-do everything from scratch cause of how repetitive and boring the game felt. The newest version REALLY was the game-changer.

Challenges we ran into

The difficulty levels are quite difficult to make-up cause different people have different skill level, and it took me a while to understand that the boss level was too difficult.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of the fact that my mom, who was the initial user, liked it and plays it everyday. And it would be enough as it is, however the fact that my classmates and friends play this makes me super proud.

What we learned

Feedback is very important. Otherwise why build an app if the intended users do not like it? Also, the planning makes or breaks an app. I learnt that without a clear plan of at least half the app or more - do not start building.

What's next for Matherio

I plan on adding a full-on Supabase login and registration, leaderboards and perhaps some in-game music.
