Inspiration

As a teacher, teaching during the pandemic has been hard. Students are distracted by so many different things, including discord. If there already on discord why not give them something they can use there to help them academically.

What it does

Mathematica is a discord bot that outputs links to the STAAR reference sheets for grades 6th-8th.

How we built it

The bot was build using discord, replit and node.js

Challenges we ran into

I originally planned the bot to use an API and code it using python but I was unable to make that happen so midway I had to try to learn a bit of JS since I haven't used it before.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of having a hack I can share with my students and use from this point on.

What we learned

I learned a bit of JS and how to create a discord bot.

What's next for Mathematica

In the future, Mathematica will have options to let users pick their region and test in order to make reference sheets more available to a greater amount of users.
