Inspiration
When we were in grade 2- 3, seemingly a lifetime ago, there was a game named prodigy. It was the first time we had ever used technology, and although prodigy might not seem as impressive in this current period of time, it was our childhood. Now, as we reflected on this piece of art known as prodigy, we decided to bring back in the form of a project in this year's hackathon.
What it does
The game starts you off on a map of an island from which you can choose a location to go to. Once you click on a location, it zooms in on an area of the map and from there you can move around your character to an NPC who will give you a math problem to answer.
How we built it
We used python using the tkinter library
Challenges we ran into
This was all of ours first hackathon and we are fairly new coders so we had to learn a lot on our own. We used google and youtube a lot to help us with this. Some specific challenges was after correctly getting an answer right it would not go back to the main screen but we eventually figured it out. We didn't end up having enough time to finish the other scenarios where you click on a marker and only finished one.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
An accomplishment we are proud of is learning how to make a somewhat functional game as this was our first time learning how to do so.
What we learned
We learned lots of things about game development and how much time it takes to make something.
What's next for Math Island Quest
We plan to work on it for a bit just to get the other scenarios of clicking on the markers down working.
