🧠 Inspiration We wanted to create a fun, engaging way to help students overcome math anxiety. By combining the excitement of space exploration with interactive learning, Math Galaxy was born.
🚀 What it does Math Galaxy is a web-based game that turns solving math problems into an intergalactic mission. Players complete challenges in fractions, algebra, and geometry to power up and restore galaxies.
🔧 How we built it We used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the front end, integrated math logic using custom scripts, and designed a simple game loop that responds to correct answers with animation and game progression.
🧗 Challenges we ran into Designing problems that are both fun and educational was tough. Balancing game mechanics with accurate math logic and keeping UI intuitive were also tricky within the limited hackathon timeframe.
🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of We’re proud of how we made math genuinely fun. We created a playable game with smooth transitions, educational value, and a cool space theme—all in just a few days!
📚 What we learned We learned how to better merge education and entertainment. We also gained experience working with game logic, refining UX for younger users, and rapidly prototyping in a team.
🌌 What’s next for Math Galaxy We plan to add more math topics, adaptive difficulty, a scoring system, and progress tracking for students. We'd also love to collaborate with educators to align levels with curriculum standards.
📝 Note to Judges This is an example implementation of Math Galaxy to demonstrate the concept and gameplay mechanics. The full version we're working on leverages AI to dynamically generate personalized math problems and adapt difficulty based on the student's performance. We're excited to explore how AI can make learning even more engaging and effective!
