Inspiration The inspiration for the Maternity Care App came from the need to support expectant mothers with accessible and reliable tools during their pregnancy journey. With the lack of a centralized platform combining health guidance, emergency resources, and scheduling features, this app aims to bridge the gap and offer a supportive companion tailored to maternity needs.
What it does Maternity Hub provides:
Login and Access: Secure and easy access to personalized resources. Doctor Consultation: Filter doctors by shifts (morning, evening, night), view profiles, and chat directly with them. Schedule Management: Add, reset, and delete appointments with ease. Guidelines: Access categorized healthcare tips (before, during, and after pregnancy), emergency precautions, and chatbot support. Emergency SOS: Quick access to emergency contact numbers from different areas of Pakistan with direct dial functionality.
How we built it The app's concept was designed around user-centric features:
Research: Conducted to understand the needs of expectant mothers. Design: Wireframes and mockups created using tools like Figma. Development: Built using modern frameworks for mobile app development, focusing on a simple, intuitive interface. Integration: Incorporated APIs for chat functionality, scheduling, and emergency dialing. Challenges we ran into Balancing Simplicity and Functionality: Ensuring the app was feature-rich without overwhelming users. Localization: Gathering emergency contacts specific to Pakistan and ensuring accuracy. Chatbot Integration: Developing a conversational AI that could accurately address health-related queries. Accomplishments that we're proud of Creating a cohesive platform that addresses multiple aspects of maternity care in one app. Successfully implementing a real-time chat feature for direct communication with doctors. Designing an intuitive interface that caters to users with varying levels of tech proficiency.
What we learned The importance of understanding the target audience’s specific needs (e.g., user-friendly interfaces and culturally relevant features). How to manage and prioritize feature development within a tight timeline. The significance of testing and iterating designs based on user feedback.
What's next for Maternity Hub Expanded Coverage: Adding more localized resources for countries beyond Pakistan. Enhanced AI: Upgrading the chatbot to provide deeper insights and recommendations. Integration with Wearables: Syncing with smartwatches or fitness trackers for real-time health monitoring. Community Features: Building forums or groups for expectant mothers to connect and share experiences. Parenting Support: Extending app features to include parenting tips.
