Inspiration

We were saddened by the number of preventable deaths and near misses in the maternal health space. Intervention has the potential to save many mothers' lives.

How we built it

Looking at existing policies in countries with low maternal mortality rates (MMR) and adopting policies. In the US, more emphasis on patient literacy and perinatal care is vital to improve outcomes.

Challenges we ran into

The differences in maternal care and healthcare systems across the globe proved hard to translate policies from one system to another.

What we learned

Maternal health is a multifaceted issue and requires a multi-tiered solution to improve health outcomes and mitigate disparities.

What's next for Maternal Health Champions

Implementation of policy change on a global scale, investment in NGOs to further goals.
