Inspiration
According to recent study,every 90 secs a women dies because of pregnancy related issues. And when it comes to healthcare issues , UNICEF is the hope of light in the dark. Reasons for choosing this issue: 1.Lack of proper awareness among women in this aspect. 2.With the growing concept of nuclear families , women can't get proper guidance by the seniors. 3.Due to carelessness or some other reasons...no regular tracking of any kind of symptoms,diseases occurring or vaccinations required during pregnancy phase. 4.Lack of knowledge/awareness of treatment facility in case of emergency. 5.No Proper information about Nutrition requirements of the woman and her baby , post-pregnancy.
What it does
"MY FAMILY" App presents the shared bond of love..i.e. the app that not only lets the mother tracks her progress , but also notifies about regular checkups,appointments, important symptoms observed and vaccinations taken/yet to be taken during the pregnancy phase. In case of emergency , immediately notifies the contacts synced with the user's app ,tracks the GPS location of the user and using Google Maps , provides the medical facilities available nearby. Provides all kind of information- such as myths related to pregnancy,Nutrition requirements of the woman and the baby , knowledge about common/uncommon symptoms during/after pregnancy ,vaccinations for the woman and the baby before/after birth and common diseases/everyday problems during/after pregnancy.
How I built it
We developed an android app and used Android Studio for designing the User Interface and PHP on the server side to handle back-end of the app.Included material design features of android library.
Challenges I ran into
Implementing Calendar API and saving events to set reminders- was a really daunting task. The concept of web scraping was new for us. Inculcation of the JustDial feature to inform the user about the nearby available medical facilities.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Achieved success in implementing the idea of web scraping.

What's next for MATERNAL AND NEWBORN CHILD HEALTH
Inculcation of the JustDial API to inform the user about the nearby available medical facilities. Syncing of multiple contacts-for sending alarms in case of emergency. Implementation of the multi-lingual feature in the app.
