Inspiration
MaternaCare was inspired by the need for accessible maternal healthcare, especially in rural areas. We aimed to empower pregnant women with real-time health monitoring and timely alerts.
What it does
The smart belt tracks maternal vitals and fetal movements, transmitting data to a mobile app. It works both online and offline, ensuring reliable monitoring and alerts anytime, anywhere.
How we built it
We integrated IoT sensors with a microcontroller and built an Android app using Kotlin. Bluetooth ensures seamless data transmission, even in offline environments.
Challenges we ran into
Ensuring sensor accuracy, offline functionality, and user comfort were significant challenges. Calibrating alerts to avoid false positives required extensive testing.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created a functional prototype that integrates hardware and software seamlessly. Offline functionality and positive user feedback reinforced the project’s value.
What we learned
We learned to balance user comfort with technical accuracy and optimize IoT systems. Collaboration and user-centered design were critical to our success.
What's next for "MaternaCare: Smart Pregnancy Belt"
We plan to enhance monitoring features, integrate AI for insights, and scale the project with healthcare partnerships. Multilingual support will help reach a broader audience.
