Inspiration

Microsoft provide a lot of different services such as Azure Machine Learning, Power Apps, Power BI and a lot more, however, me being a first year student in degree doesn't know anything about these functions. After watching tutorials for a few days, I realized that the most doable project is probably this matching system of She Loves Tech. Moreover, She Loves Tech is a platform that provide help for all girls and ladies, and I think this is the main points of this hackathon, to let the women shine, so I to tackle this problem statement of She Loves Tech.

What it does

This system aims to let investor find their desired startup to collaborate with based on their region, startup stage, and industry. Investors can choose to save their data in She Loves Tech database so the platform can provide more help.

How we built it

Power Apps is the application used to create this system, components such as labels, forms, galleries, and buttons are used. The color theme of this system follows the website of She Loves Tech, we used color #E5302b as the main color of the application, other than that we mock the layout of She Loves Tech website as well. Data are connected to Power Apps, the database used here is Excel tables, all the data can be added into the table easily.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge that I faced is the lack of knowledge, since I'm a first year student of degree so I don't know how to use all these AI functions and Power platforms, and the learning curve will be extremely high for me. However, after weeks of study, I found that Power Apps is probably the best I can do due to the restrictions.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Completing this project is not an easy thing to do, I would say this is one of the biggest achievements of my life. I think of giving up this project for many times, however, I still manage to finish this project even though this project is not perfect, or not even considered a project that is good enough to be handed in. I'm proud that I was able to finish the whole system including design, coding, and connect the data.

What we learned

I learned how to create an application using Power Apps, Power Apps is a very good platform to develop a low-code and low-cost application. Power Apps are easy to use and at the same time provide a lot of special features including AI models and connecting to different databases like Sharepoint or Excel sheets.

What's next for Matching system for investor

The system can be improved by implementing AI matching, the system now works more like a filter instead, so if AI matching can be implemented, the investor can choose their desired startup based on the percentage of similarities of startups with their requirements. Besides, the email of startup can also be shown in the search result so investors can contact them by themselves, and this can create an automated process without involving the staff of She Loves Tech.
