Inspiration

The inspiration behind Matchify came from all of our interests in music. Music is something that bonds people together, so we decided to create a website in which users can create friendships with others with similar music tastes.

What it does

Matchify helps users match and communicate with others who have similar music tastes! Through our public discussion board, direct messaging system, or our tinder-style friending feature, boldMatchify*bold* can definitely help you find your music soulmate!

How we built it

We built the website on a Django framework with our database being hosted on Neon.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a lot of issues creating profile and the algorithm for calculating compatibility. When curating the profile, it was a little difficult to implement a friend request feature from the profile. Regarding the algorithm, we spent a long time just perfecting it so that it can come out with an unbiased yet extremely accurate comparability score between users.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're really proud of our UI, something a UI we put a lot of time into creating. We're also proud by how vast of a functional framework we made in such a little amount of time. Finally, we're really proud of our algorithm as it was created with limited data yet we can argue is the the most accurate algorithm on the Internet for creating compatibility scores (Other than Spotify's).
