Inspiration
We want to allow users to match with other users who have similar tastes in movies. We also want to help users to select which movies to watch both parties are interested in. Hence, we want to create an app that does both
What it does
Our app is a movie-matching platform that functions like Tinder but for films. It allows users to connect with others by indicating their preferences on movies. When both users agree on a movie, the app notifies them of a match, enabling them to watch it together. Additionally, the app pairs users with similar movie tastes, providing an opportunity for users to enjoy the film together. This creates a fuss free way for movie enthusiasts to connect and share their love for movies.
How we built it
We built the app using React for the front-end and and next.js as the back end
Challenges we ran into
We are new to the backend software tools, so we need to learn it from scratch, which does take a lot of time to get use to.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are able to get the movies from the movie database and randomly show different movies for the front-end
What we learned
We learned bits of React, Next.js and some other CSS and JS
What's next for Matchflix
We want to implement a chat box, as well as a wishlist for the user's preferences
