Inspiration

Many students struggle to grasp challenging subjects. Teachers are busy managing large groups, so they can't spend much time with each individual. This leaves students feeling stuck and frustrated, searching for better ways to understand tough concepts. There's a clear gap in personalized learning, which makes it harder for students to fully grasp complex topics.

What it does

An application that allows users to exchange skills at a one-to-one level with other like-minded individuals also seeking to develop their skills.

How we built it

We utilized technologies in the backend such as Firebase, Firestore, Python and Flask to develop a REST API to handle the logic behind individuals making connections and storing information. On the front end, we utilized next js and react.js to create a smooth and seamless user-interface for interaction with the REST API

Challenges we ran into

Using front-end technologies to display an interactive user interface was a large obstacle for us, since it was our first time utilizing these technologies.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

What we learned

We learned how to integrate REST API calls into a front end interface to create constant updates based on queries to our data base and calls to the API.

What's next for MatchBox

A scalable and deployable application, with features such as, GIS, AI recommendations, better security and deployment to a service with a bigger scale.
