Inspiration

After using dating apps like Hinge, Tinder, and Bumble, we decided that they were too limited in capability and focused more on getting paid users than helping them find real matches. This Matcha was born.

What it does

Matcha is a simple dating app, same as other ones, except we do not have any unnecessary paywalls. We hope to foster healthy relationships and build trust with our users.

How we built it

We used the Swift programming language and Xcode as our code editor to develop our app.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was deciding how we want to model our app. We did extensive research to find out that Gen Z, our target customer base, is more interest in meaningful relationships than hookups. So we designed the app to do exactly that.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Now that we have our app, although it's just the first version, we have something to put on the App Store that people can use.

What we learned

The dating app industry is highly competitive with the biggest apps holding the most power. However, with recent changes in dating trends coupled with their insane paywalls and unethical practices, these traditional apps are dying; therefore, there is great opportunity.
