Inspiration
The inspiration behind Mastercraft stems from my witnessing the struggles of those unemployed in my community and country. I saw many unemployed people, those who had some vocational skills but were not able to earn enough to cater for their needs. I also noticed that these same set of people could learn a skill if given a chance but they would not commit themselves to this since they spent a good part of their day on social media platforms like YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and the likes. Platforms like Udemy, Skillshare, Coursera etc would be what they need to learn and acquire the skills required to earn for themselves.
What it does
I wanted to create something that bridges the gap between social life and skill acquisition, thus Mastercraft was born. Mastercraft is aimed at solving the unemployment situation in my community, country and even the world at large. It is a learning platform that promotes the learning of vocational skills with a mix of some of the familiar features that are found in popular social media applications.
How we built it
We came up with the designs for the mobile application using Figma.
Challenges we ran into
Every project encounters obstacles, and Mastercraft is no exception. The biggest challenge I faced was getting to know what users would like to see in Mastercraft.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to come up with 32-screen designs for the application.
What we learned
We learnt that users' needs are diverse and proferring a solution for their needs would require time and patience.
What's next for Mastercraft
The next phase for Mastercraft is development. We plan on creating the necessary APIs and building out the mobile application using tools like Flutter, React Native, Kotlin and Swift.
