Inspiration

One day I was going through a news in TV regarding people trying out different masks in different shops and buying best one for them to after trying out the different mask combination. By this method a problem arise in this COVID19 situation. As if a infected person of COVID19 try adopting this method and not purchasing the mask that he had tried out in the shop and if another person tries out the same mask in the same shop he might also get infected. So I created a solution to this challenging problem faced in the shops in this epidemic situation.

What it does

It is a filter which helps you to try out different types of masks virtually with the help of AR filter and helps you to buy best suitable masks from shops

How I built it

I used spark AR studio to create this filter and used adobe Photoshop to create mask images for using as a filter and I have used Figma which is a UI/UX design tool to create a rectangular selection bar which consist of different filter images of available masks and each mask images in the rectangular bar in the screen mainly corresponds to a button. In which if a user selects a button corresponds to a mask image then the mask corresponding to that button is shown in the users face. I have mainly inputted different mask images in users face as a face mesh in the form of a animation sequence and created a rectangular bar and created null objects in the mask images in the rectangular bar as button. And created a patch editor corresponding to each button. This patch editor mainly accepts in the rectangular bar buttons as input for mask images in it. And if a user clicks on particular mask image that image filter is shown in the users face.

Challenges I ran into

Here are the list of challenges that I ran into during this Hackathon.

  • One challenge was compressing the image of size of the images that I created for using the mask filter from the Photoshop. The size of the JPG images of mask was actually little bit large. So I had to compress it to smaller size.
  • Another challenge that i faced was regarding getting best suitable mask images for creating the filter as per the idea requirement. ## Accomplishments that I'm proud of The proud thing is that I was able to learn spark AR and I was able to try out different tools in spark AR for implementing this project and I was able to provide a solution to a common problem faced by the society in this COVID19 situation and other important thing is that the idea that I had implemented using spark AR will be useful to large no of users and also for mask selling shop owners and also for mask purchases in E-commerce website like Amazon, Flip kart.

What I learned

Main thing is that I was able to learn the basics spark AR and I was also able to learn adobe Photoshop for creating images of masks for using in this spark AR project as a filter. And I was able to learn how to implement a idea to a solution which be helpful for a large amount of user during this COVID19 pandemic situation.

What's next for Mask tester filter

  • Making this filter available for to the users.
  • Making this filter available as a feature in E- commerce websites such as Flipkart, Amazon etc.
  • Reaching to public mask selling shop owners and telling them how this filter is helpful for their shops.
