Inspiration

We were inspired by the COVID-19 outbreak to create a heatmap that allows users to input the amount of people they saw within their location, if there were masks present, and if there was sufficient social distancing in place. For me, I personally am immunocompromised, so it was very meaningful for me to help create this project.

What it does

Creates a heat map using Google Maps that marks areas with a higher risk of spreading COVID-19 from the data input by the user. Allows people to be informed about whether the areas they are going to are potentially deemed risky.

How I built it

ExpressJS, Google Maps API, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, MySQL, Github

Challenges I ran into

Database Implementation, Web Servers, Referencing Between Different Files, API Difficulties

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Learned a wide skillset while creating a tool that we feel could be beneficial to society.

What I learned

We learned about teamwork, collaborative coding, many new coding skills, API implementation and working under a deadline.

What's next for Mask Off

Finish implementing database, get a wider range of users, and building an app.
