Inspiration
The world is currently to continue with its struggle against coronavirus so we were inspired to do something to help. Masks have been proven to help reduce and spread and help to protect others.
What it does
Our application checks your current location and sees if you leave from a saved location that you get a notification to remember to bring a mask.
How we built it
We used Flutter to build a cross platform application. It utilizes Google places and Google maps api to handle the locations.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was working with people from a different part of the world. Two of the team members live in India while the third is in California. The time zone management was a difficult part. Another challenge was time because we wanted to add some other features but ran out of time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As a team we are proud that we have a MVP level project. It is missing some features but it does what it should so far and that is very exciting.
What we learned
We learned a lot about Flutter and developing a project from scratch rapidly. We also learned about location tracking and the different techniques that exist to handle it.
What's next for Mask Helper
If we were to continue work on Mask Helper we would add Login/registration since it is already built, we just ran out of time to get it working. Also we would add background processes and fix some bugs.
