Inspiration
Since my summer was spent being at home and watching TV and Youtube and whenever I got to go out I had to wear a mask and then I saw people not wearing mask So, That's when it hit me that there should be a system which can help out with this problem and Now that WHO has declared that COVID-19 is going to remain around for about 2 years. So proper precautions are going to be necessary.
What it does
This ML python based surveillance system detects if people/person are/is not wearing mask and follows them wherever reachable and plays beeping sound if a person is found without a mask.
How I built it
I have build it using python with ML using TensorFlow, Keras, Open-CV, numpy, Matplotlib, Scipy, imuntils
Challenges I ran into
Time was a big challenge but we are happy with what we could do starting every thing from yesterday. Some of the bugs existed in transfer learning the MobileNEt but with thorough checking we could overcome it.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
First of all I'm proud of coming up with a idea to solve a practical problem. Secondly for have completed building it in 22 hrs, that was a big challenge for me as I was an individual participant Time was a big challenge for me, and applying the knowledge to a practical approach was the next big challenge for me, and Since I made a working app I'm proud of what I've built.
What I learned
I learned to apply Computer Vision for Practical Use using ML and various libraries.
What's next for Mask-Detector
This project is based on a system to keep an eye on people and detect whenever a person is not wearing any mask and inform them or the required authority. It can be implemented at the entry doors for various places including Metros, Cafes, Public Transports, Schools, Colleges, Exam Centers, Malls and any place where there can be public gathering.
