The Red Sox spent over $100 million (including posting fee) to Japanese Slugger Masataka Yoshida. There are 16 other Japanese-born hitters that came across the Pacific. Is there a trend?

Inspiration

Yoshida signed the contract that is the highest first year-contract for a Japanese fielding player ($90m/5 Year) How does he compare to 16 other Japanese position players (*and a two-way) who came across the Pacific? Look into NPB data and their OBP/SLG/OPS for MLB and NPB stats, as provided by Baseball-Reference.com.

Compares US-Japan data. Is there any trends?

How we built it

Vite + React framework, used Chart.js and react-chartjs-2. Data from Baseball-Reference. Hosted on GitHub pages using gh-pages package

Challenges we ran into

Time constraints, in deciding what to do. I couldn't get the GitHub pages to work right in time. At first, I was going to work on something to do with WBC, but there was no central place for data.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I got something working in time, at least on my local, I got GitHub pages working soon after.

What we learned

Never used react-chartjs-2 before.

What's next for Masataka Yoshida?

Obviously need to get the GitHub page live so people can access it. (Updated)

I'd like to have shown more information on tooltips (updated)
