Inspiration

I wanted to learn AIOps and MLOps through hands-on experience, so I decided to build a SaaS application that would be my own AI laboratory. Masarefy (daily money expenses) became the platform where I could experiment AI, plus learning. Along the way, things got intersting for me and start using this application every day to manage my own finances rather than excel sheet i had on my mobile to track my expenses.

Note : Masarefy is an Arabic word means "my expenses"

What it does

helps users take control of their daily spending. give recommendations how to save, achieve personal goals. In other words "where is your money going, and why, plus gives you recommendations to stay in budget adn save fro your personla goals"

How we built it

I started building Masarefy with ChatGPT, which helped me design the architecture, backend, frontend, database, and overall technical approach. As the project grew, I began using Codex, which significantly changed my life, saving time and effort in development and by helping me implement features, troubleshoot issues. The application is deployed on AWS EC2 with a complete CI/CD pipeline using GitHub Actions. Codes and ChatGPT served as learning partners, allowing me to transform ideas into a production-ready AI-powered SaaS application while continuously learning.

Challenges we ran into

Alot of issue, mainly how i can reach to a point that Codex and ChatGPT understand what exactly i need and how my budget engine should work, testing , and deployments.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I never imagined I would reach this point with Masarefy. It exceeded my expectations. What started as a personal learning project evolved into a complete AI-powered SaaS application that I use every day to manage my own finances.

What we learned

Building an end-to-end application on my own—from the frontend and backend to the cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipeline, Kubernetes deployment, oberseviabilty and AI integration. Masarefy became the platform that helped me learn AI, cloud-native engineering, and modern software development through real-world experience, and it was Codex and Chat GPT that made it happened.

What's next for Masarefy

Masarefy is just getting started, not sure if I'm ready to ask this question now, but i wanted to be a smarter AI financial coaching application. Maybe one day an application i can generate income from.
