Inspiration
My Inspiration came from the recent surge in the popularity of VR projects and 3D rendering. I always wanted to get into web development but never dove headfirst into a project.
What it does
This app renders 3D medieval images to the website and displays them in a gradual spin.
How we built it
I built it by simply making the front end of the website with react js and rendered the elements with three js and the necessary dependencies.
Challenges we ran into
A big challenge I ran into was dependency issues when installing the necessary libraries. I had to troubleshoot to the utmost and at one point was nervous about my code never compiling. I never touched web development before this so all the languages I used in this project were my first time learning them. I also had no team members for this project, with this being my first hackathon this made guidance and time management difficult.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud that I was able to not only think of the idea myself but also debug and develop it all on my own. As I've said this is my first hackathon and I planned to learn web development I accomplished that in this hackathon. I'm most proud that the project I submitted was the exact project that I envisioned.
What we learned
I learned some of the basics of web development. I learned a number of libraries that aid in 3D rendering for websites. I also learned how to trust the process and not lose faith along the way despite the circumstances. Most importantly I bettered my knowledge of debugging.
What's next for Marsh3D
I would like to add an animated knight battle. I feel as though some of the coolest parts about movies are the fight scenes so a 3D rendered fight scene sounds interesting. I also plan on making a moveable camera that allows you to explore the imagery of a complex image.
