Inspiration
We wanted to provide users with a way to see a daily forecast for Mars.
What it does
Scrapes current weather data off of two NASA Websites updated daily by the curiosity and perseverance rovers and displays it in an easy to read format.
How we built it
We used React, HTML, and CSS
Challenges we ran into
We originally planned on using a NASA API that used to update daily with new weather information but discovered that it had not been updated in three years. We then took the web scraping approach on an actively updated website.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This was our team's first exposure to not only react, but all the languages we used as well as web scraping. Being able to make a complete project with our lack of experience is something that we are really proud of.
What we learned
Learned how to develop a React app, scrape data off of websites, and collaborate using Git.
What's next for Mars Meteo
We'd love to work more on the UI and add for features for users. We'd also love to deploy it on our private domain.
