Inspiration

Inspired by films and tv shows about the colonization and exploration of Mars such as For All Mankind, the Martian, and others.

What it does

Collect resources and build a base on Mars, on the Tharsis Plateau.

How we built it

We used Meta Horizon Worlds Desktop editor including the GenAI tools built into this software. We also made use of Visual Studio code.

Challenges we ran into

We had a much larger vision of the game and had to cut it down significantly for the competition to complete our submission. We also ran into challenges with world optimization as we reached limits for world size. The rover was also a challenge to get to drive without falling through the terrain.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are happy about the FTUE and world building and art style established.

What we learned

We learned about Noesis, further expanded our knowledge of the Horizon Worlds Desktop and also GenAI 'vibe coding' techniques.

What's next for Mars 2075: First Contact

We plan to significantly expand the world, adding in many more explore-able areas, and intro cutscene sequence, and the ability to launch a rocket and reach a station orbiting mars.
