Inspiration
Most teams know change is happening in their market, but they’re stuck reacting too late. Signals are noisy, scattered across platforms, and hard to turn into action. We built MarketPulse to make market intelligence feel less like guesswork and more like having a trusted analyst on your team.
What it does
MarketPulse helps operators spot and act on trends earlier. It scans and organizes market signals, surfaces emerging and growing trends, and turns them into practical recommendations.
The product includes:
- A real-time dashboard with trend and insight KPIs
- A trends explorer with filters, ranking, and semantic search
- AI-generated recommendations tied to confidence and revenue potential
- An executive-style intelligence briefing that can be generated and played as audio
In short, it turns market noise into clear decisions.
How we built it
We built MarketPulse as a React + TypeScript app with Vite and Tailwind, using a component system based on Radix primitives for speed and consistency.
On the data side, we integrated with Palantir OSDK patterns and used a local shim plus realistic seeded ontology data so the full product flow works end-to-end during development. We also added:
- OpenAI-powered briefing generation for high-signal summaries
- ElevenLabs audio generation for listenable executive briefings
- A semantic search API flow for intent-based trend discovery
This gave us a practical, testable foundation without faking the core user experience.
Challenges we ran into
One of the hardest parts was balancing ambition with reliability in a hackathon timeline. We wanted “AI everywhere,” but we had to be disciplined about where AI genuinely improved decisions versus where it added noise.
We also had to make multiple systems feel cohesive: structured trend data, semantic retrieval, and generated content. Keeping the UX consistent while handling loading states, failures, and user trust moments (like confidence scores and source context) took more effort than expected.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud that MarketPulse is not just a concept deck—it’s a working product experience with clear operator value.
Highlights we’re proud of:
- End-to-end flow from discovery to recommendation to executive briefing
- Human-readable insights instead of raw metrics overload
- A UI that feels calm and usable for non-technical business teams
- Practical AI usage that supports decisions instead of replacing judgment
Most importantly, we built something teams can imagine using on Monday morning, not “someday.”
What we learned
We learned that the most valuable AI products are often the ones that reduce cognitive load, not just generate more content.
We also learned how important trust design is in intelligence tooling: users need visibility into why a signal matters, what confidence it has, and what action is realistic. Great UX for AI is as much about clarity and restraint as it is about model quality.
What's next for MarketPulse
Next, we want to make MarketPulse even more decision-ready:
- Live production data connectors instead of development shims
- Personalized alerts with role-based relevance (founder, marketer, operator)
- Collaboration workflows so teams can share, annotate, and act on insights together
- Better forecast quality scoring and feedback loops from user actions
Our goal is simple: make strategic market awareness as accessible as checking your inbox.
