Inspiration
I’m a statistics department university student in Ethiopia running a small Polkadot validator. Every day, I analyze time-series data - block times, finality delays, validator rotations - but the tools are raw, scattered, and silent. I saw PolkaPulse (PYOR) - excellent for DeFi TVL and liquidity trends. But as a statistician, I needed more: Real-time anomaly detection using statistical models Relay Chain + Parachain health in one view Plain-language alerts for non-technical validators That’s when PolkaNova was born: A cyberpunk dashboard that applies statistical rigor to Polkadot’s heartbeat.
What it does
PolkaNova provides a dynamic dashboard that visualizes Polkadot network activity. Users can track transactions, monitor validator performance, and see token movements, all in real-time. It also offers personalized notifications and insights for developers and blockchain enthusiasts. PolkaNova watches Polkadot’s Relay Chain and parachains in real time. If anything goes wrong (slow blocks, finality delay, traffic jam, etc.), it immediately: Shows a 3D heart that changes color and pulse speed Green = all good Yellow = warning Red = problem now PulseBot tells you exactly what’s wrong in normal words Example: “Finality is slow today because some validators are offline.” That’s it. Difference from PolkaPulse PolkaPulse = shows DeFi money stuff (TVL, trading volumes) PolkaNova = shows if the network itself is healthy + talks to you when it’s not PolkaPulse = “How much money is here?” PolkaNova = “Is the chain okay right now?”
What I learned
This project strengthened my skills in Web3 APIs, data visualization, and real-time application development. I also learned the importance of balancing performance with user experience when working with large datasets. But most importantly I saw that as a statistician role I should make the analysis readable and understandable for the ones who benefit from the analysis making decision making easy and efficient
What's next for PolkaNova
Next, I plan to add more advanced analytics, such as predictive insights on token movements, and expand support to multiple blockchains. I also want to enhance the AI assistant with natural language queries so users can ask complex questions and get instant answers.
