People have drilled into plumbing while adding furniture at home
What it does
Scans a wall and shows the mechanical, plumbing, and electrical (MPE) behind it
How we built it
We have a camera that scans a tag on a wall to identify which wall it is, and pulls up the appropriate MPE on a screen
Challenges we ran into
A small monitor we had access to was difficult to program. We used a different monitor. Computer vision was difficult based on lighting of room and shade of colors used.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Completing the hackathon. Making it look presentable
What we learned
Computervision is not magic; to is hard to keep readings stable and add tolerance to what constitutes a 'change' in image.
What's next for Maps for walls
Make it small, portable. Customer discovery and feedback. User testing. Becoming a start up.
