About the Project
Inspiration
The idea for MapFit came from the realization that daily navigation could be more than just finding the fastest route—it could also support personal fitness goals. Whether it’s choosing a path with more steps for extra calorie burn or finding an accessible route for those with mobility challenges, we wanted to create a tool that enhances both movement and well-being.
What We Learned
Through this project, we gained valuable insights into:
- User behavior and fitness needs, learning how people prefer to balance convenience with exercise.
- Map APIs and real-time data integration, ensuring accurate and dynamic routing.
How We Built It
We developed MapFit using:
- HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the Designing and FrontEnd, ensuring a smooth and responsive UI.
- Leaflet for real-time navigation and geospatial data.
Challenges We Faced
Building MapFit came with several challenges, including:
- Balancing route efficiency and fitness benefits, as the optimal fitness path isn't always the shortest.
- Integrating real-time elevation and step count data to provide meaningful insights.
- User experience design, ensuring the interface was intuitive and easy to use for both fitness enthusiasts and casual users.
Despite these hurdles, we successfully created a functional prototype that demonstrates how everyday navigation can become a step toward better health.
