Inspiration
The ability to visualize places we love, have lived in, or have visited on a map. After having relocated to my fifth city in the summer, I became nostalgic about all the places I loved in my previous cities, and I wanted a map to commemorate all the places in a city that I loved. That is what interested me in illustrated maps. I watched videos on YouTube, took a course on skillshare, and used Pinterest to get inspiration
What we quickly realized was the fact that it was far from easy to create such a beautiful map without having drawing tools, illustration software, and design skills.
I ended up with a map that took a long time to draw, didn't look like what I had envisioned, and didn’t even look like a map. I was disheartened to not try again.
