Our Mission
Map my Escape wants to quickly bring individuals in NY to safety when a hurricane or flood strikes.
What is Map My Escape
Map my Escape is an in-depth mapping system designed to help flood victims reach safety quickly. By use of geolocation and Google Maps, the application can pinpoint the location of the user and relay nearby safe points.
How we built it
We used HTM5, CSS3 (front-end development), JSON, JS, JQuery, and Google API. We integrated the Google API to generate the map.
Challenges we ran into
Integrating the API.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We developed a microsite that is easy for anyone to navigate through, and the Google Maps is the feature.
What we learned
The use of API, and how to integrate it. Including how to properly manage a team.
What's next for Map My Escape: Hurricane/Flood Relief Plan
We plan to make this available to individuals throughout the United States, polish the interface of the website, make a simple app, and possibly globalize the application. Our goal is to facilitate hurricane and flood relief.
