How the website looks when given an input

Inspiration

I took inspiration from a recent trip to India. I wanted to visit new places but wasn't sure where exactly to start. Having an all-in-one website that helps you find new places is great.

What it does

Based on the location you input and a specific place type, it provides pictures of places and their names. It also features a map to explore more in the area.

How we built it

I built it using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, and I incorporated the Google Places API

Challenges we ran into

I encountered a significant challenge using the Google Places API since it was my first time working with an API. Understanding how to use it and incorporate it into a website was difficult. I also considered adding another API but realized that working with one was challenging enough.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of creating my first project incorporating an API. I had always wanted to try this but never did, so finally doing it felt rewarding.

What we learned

As it was my first time using an API, I learned how to use the Google Places API and how to incorporate an API into my code.

What's next for Map mate

I want to integrate the OpenAI API to provide responses to user questions or give tips. I would also like to add more parameters so that the OpenAI API can provide better and more detailed responses.
